Books!

Post  Gasman40 on Sun Sep 11, 2011 4:51 am

Don't know if many of you read (I for one don't read a whole lot) but i thought we could start up a section about good books we could share?
I'll kick it off with the book im reading at the moment called "Physics of the Future" by Michio Kaku. He's a famous physicist who works on string theory and hosts a few tv shows (if you've ever watched shows on space and seen an american japanese guy thats him). I know it's not everyones cup of tea but the book is fantastic. He talks about how science will change our lives in the future by talking about the technology that's being developed today. He covers things like miniature MRI machines, X-ray vision, contact lenses which display vital signs, names of people and descriptions of environments as you walk around, computing power and being able to control things through our minds and computer chips (as much as this sounds bullshit, he justifies how it'll work). He also splits the book up into sections. Near future - present to 2030, future 2030 - 2070 and distant future 2070 to 2100. It's a great read if you're interested in this kind of thing.
So let rip on your favourite books or what you're reading now

The Road is a great book.

I also like the Series of Unfortunate Events series.

I am currently reading all of Karl Pilkington's books. Absolutely hilarious.

That physics one sounds cool mate, will have to check it out.

I read:

Fiction - Star Wars novels and graphic novels. I also like to read classics ( i know, sounds boring) and the last one I read was a tale of two cities.

Non - Fiction - This is what I mainly read. I am interested in history and at the moment I am reading some around WW1 and Russia. I am mainly interested in European history at the moment.
