RTS games

Post  mrcrowley24 on Mon Oct 19, 2009 7:10 am

Whats everyone fav. Real Time Strategy (RTS) game? What do you recommend?

Mine is the command and Conquer Universe. I like the Tiberium series more than the Red Alert and Generals series. Tiberium wars (kanes wraith) being my favorite. I believe that the PC is the only way to play an RTS. I'm looking forward to Tiberium Twlight, but Im worried how they have dropped the base building and resource management in favour of a more RPG progression style (see dawn of war series).

I havent played many other RTS's. I finished battalion wars 2 on the wii, but thats not a hard core RTS. Advance wars 1&2 on the DS are good. I played the demos of supremme commander and sins of the solar empire, but I couldnt get into them. I may give starcraft 2 a go.

Yeah that is what I meant mate. Civilisation 5 for the PC, not Civilisation Revolution for the PS3. Have you played the latest PC one?

lol.

Every now and again I feel like playing an RTS game and I have this PC that I don't really use and I built it specifically for gaming. I have always liked C&C, but the latest one was crap. Technically I should give Starcraft 2 a go as its an RTS and simliar to C&C, but I want to explore other strategy games and I'm thinking of giving Civilisation V a go and maybe total war.

How about city building games? Anyone play them or recommend any?

Command and Conquer (C&C) is a real time strategy game that consists of base building, money management and real time battles. (same as Starcraft)

Civilisation is a turn based strategy game (you move and then the enemy moves) with micromanagement factors like diplomacy, warfare and exploration.

They are fundamentally different games and look different:

Command and Conquer

Civilisation

So C&C does have base building elements, but I was meaning games like simcity.

ahhh okay. I've played heaps of different games like C&C.
I've only played civilisation as turn based games. Not a real big fan of them except for the Civilisation series

I never played it either. Some guy in year 12 skipped pretty much all of school jut to stay home and play it. Apparently he was know over the WoW universe. hahaha.
I love that episode tristo. "In this world I'm only a simple geologist. In the warcraft world I'm a level 7 elf blah blah blah" something along those lines. lol
